The 5 most important roles in a Mystery Room

Do you want to be unbeatable in a Mystery Room? Then it’s not just about being clever. It’s about having the right roles in your team. When everyone plays the role they’re best at, you’ll solve the puzzles faster and have more fun along the way. Here are the five most important roles to have in your team.

The Detective

The Detective is curious, spots even the most hidden clues and reports them carefully to the Helicopter. No detail is too small.

The Helicopter

The Helicopter hovers above the team, maintains an overview and knows who is doing what. The Helicopter gathers information and acts as the team’s hub for sharing knowledge.

The Questioner

The Questioner has the courage to ask the silly questions that shed new light on a puzzle and get the team back on track. It is often the unexpected question that cracks the code.

The Organiser

Whilst the Helicopter keeps track of the people, the Organiser keeps track of the objects. The Organiser knows exactly which puzzles have been solved and which items are still in play. The order matters.

The Cheerleader

No amount of progress is too small to celebrate. The Cheerleader keeps team spirit high throughout the match and is always ready to lend a helping hand and give a well-deserved pat on the back.

Frequently asked questions about escape room roles

How many people can play a Mystery Room?

A Mystery Room is typically suitable for teams of a few players up to around twenty, depending on the room. The more roles you cover, the stronger your team will be.

Does everyone need a fixed role?

The roles are there to help, not to restrict you. Most teams slip into them naturally, and the most important thing is that you work together and listen to one another.
