Indoor team-building activities in Copenhagen in winter: 7 options

Short answer

Indoor team-building in Copenhagen during the winter can take place at a castle, a museum or in an escape room. At Mystery Makers, groups of between 4 and 150 people can play Mystery Hunt at Christiansborg Palace, Kronborg Castle or Thorvaldsens Museum in the same game. At Kronborg, you can have up to 200 participants with parallel teams. Groups of between 4 and 59 can play Mystery Room. Mystery Hunt costs from 199 kr. per person plus admission, whilst Mystery Room costs from 249 kr. per person. The three venues and Mystery Room are available all year round, whatever the weather or time of day.

November rain, darkness at four o’clock and a Christmas party to organise. That’s where the question usually arises for most people: what can we do together that doesn’t require rainwear, yet still gets people laughing and chatting across departments?

The first four options are ours. The last three belong to others, as the right choice depends on your group. Prices are the same for private individuals and businesses. Private individuals pay including VAT, whilst businesses pay excluding VAT. On Google, we have a rating of 4.7 out of 287 reviews.

The experience has been developed in collaboration with the National Museum.

Kronborg is in Helsingør, not in Copenhagen. It’s worth stating that clearly. On the other hand, it’s the venue with the largest capacity, and it’s ideal for conferences in North Zealand and for companies looking to get out of the office for half a day.

3) Mystery Hunt at Thorvaldsens Museum

A group looks at picture cards in front of a relief at the Thorvaldsens Museum

This is the venue we recommend for teams who would rather collaborate than compete.

The museum is right next to Christiansborg, so it’s easy to combine a visit with lunch or Christmas party in the city centre afterwards. Read more about Mystery Hunt at Thorvaldsens Museum.

5) Experimentarium in Hellerup

The science centre north of Copenhagen features hands-on exhibitions spread over several floors. It provides an ideal setting for teams who want to tinker with things and learn as they go, and it works well for mixed groups comprising both curious and more reserved colleagues. Experimentarium offers bespoke events for companies. The centre is full of school groups during the day on weekdays, so do ask for a time slot when there’s space available.

Suitable for: teams with a technical or scientific background, family days out, groups with children.

6) Cooking course with a group dinner

Several cookery schools in Copenhagen offer classes where a team prepares a menu together and then eats it. Anyone can take part; it ends with a meal, and it can be organised right before the Christmas lunch, as the food is already on the table. Groups of around 20 to 30 people usually have to be split up, and you rarely get the shared task that is the lifeblood of team-building. Prices vary depending on the menu and drinks.

Suitable for: smaller teams and departments looking for a combination of activities and food.

7) Shuffleboard, bowling or indoor mini-golf

Copenhagen has several venues offering shuffleboard, bowling and indoor mini-golf, often with a bar and food on the premises. It requires no preparation, everyone can learn the rules in five minutes, and it’s easy to swap teams as you go along. Choose this option when the aim is simply to have a good time. Book well in advance in November and December, when the city is packed.

Suitable for: a Friday night drinks atmosphere, relaxed groups, when the activity is to take place just before dinner.

How to choose

Three questions determine most things:

  • How many of you are there? Under 27: all seven options are available. 27 to 59: Multi-room Mystery Room, or Mystery Hunt. Over 59: Mystery Hunt at Christiansborg, Kronborg or Thorvaldsens. The maximum number of participants for the same game is 150. Up to 200 is possible only with parallel teams, and only at Kronborg.
  • Are you looking for team-building or entertainment? If you want to learn something about how you work together, choose an activity that involves a shared task and a result. If you just want to have fun, bowling and shuffleboard are fine.
  • How much time do you have? The Mystery Room takes 60 minutes, and the Mystery Hunt takes 90 to 120 minutes. Allow half a day for Kronborg.

Fun corporate events in Copenhagen: 7 ideas to strengthen team spirit

Are you looking for inspiration for a corporate event that’s a bit out of the ordinary? A good corporate event is about more than just getting together. It’s about laughing together, tackling a challenge together and going home with a shared experience. Here are seven ideas for a fun corporate event in Copenhagen that will strengthen team spirit and put people at the heart of the experience. 🕵️‍♂️

1) Solve a mystery at a historic location

How well do you actually know each other under pressure? A Mystery Hunt sends you off to iconic locations such as Christiansborg Palace, Kronborg Castle or Thorvaldsens Museum, where you’ll have to decipher clues and solve puzzles along the way. It’s teamwork, excitement and a cultural experience all rolled into one. Up to 150 players can take part in the same game, and if there are more of you, we’ll split you into parallel teams so that even very large groups can join in. Several of the experiences are also available in English, so international teams can take part on an equal footing.

2) Get locked in an escape room

Can your team crack the codes before time runs out? A Mystery Room offers 60 intense minutes where everyone has to play their part if you’re to escape. It’s the perfect exercise in teamwork, communication and logical thinking, and it’s ideal for smaller teams who want to work closely together.

3) Combine an activity with a company lunch

Why choose? Start the day with a Mystery Hunt out and about in the city, and round it off with lunch or dinner at one of Copenhagen’s many restaurants. You’ll get some exercise, share an experience together and have a natural opportunity to carry on chatting over a good meal.

4) Send the team on a treasure hunt in the countryside

In summer, the city’s parks provide the perfect setting. A Mystery Hunt in Kongens Have or at Kastellet offers fresh air, exercise and plenty of laughs as you solve puzzles along the way. It’s an easy and sociable way to bring the team together.

5) Create an occasion to celebrate a milestone

Have you achieved a goal, welcomed new colleagues or completed a major project? Make it a memorable occasion with a shared experience instead of the traditional reception. An activity that everyone takes part in leaves a very different impression to speeches and toasts.

6) Pit the departments against each other

A bit of friendly competition works wonders for team spirit. Split the company into teams and let them compete in the same Mystery Hunt. Who will solve the mystery the quickest? It boosts morale, encourages cross-departmental conversation and produces a winner who’ll be remembered at the next company event.

7) Welcome new colleagues with a shared experience

Have you welcomed any new faces recently? Onboarding doesn’t have to be all about meetings and staff handbooks. A shared experience, where new and existing colleagues solve puzzles side by side, is a far more effective way of bringing the team together from day one. You get to know each other when you work together to crack a code. And if you have international colleagues, several of these experiences are available in English, so everyone is on an equal footing.

How to find the right corporate event

Think about three things: how many of you there are, whether you want to be indoors or outdoors, and what you’d like to take away from the experience afterwards. Smaller groups get the most out of a Mystery Room, whilst larger groups thrive on a Mystery Hunt across the city. And if you’re looking for something to do all year round, the indoor venues are always a sure-fire hit.

As Plato said:

“You can learn more about a person in an hour’s play than in a year’s conversation.”

With a 4.7-star rating from 287 reviews on Google and clients such as Novo Nordisk and Netcompany, you can be sure that your corporate event is in safe hands. ⭐️
