Collaborative onboarding exercises - give new employees a strong start

27 May 2025

How do you welcome new employees so they feel part of the team from day one? The answer is simple: Through targeted teamwork exercises where all employees, new and old, can get to know each other better.

At Mystery Makers, we design experiences that strengthen relationships, promote communication and lay the foundations for a strong culture, right from the start. Our onboarding activities are based on effective team-building exercises, where play and learning go hand in hand. You can read more about our onboarding here or contact us to learn more.

Fun team-building exercises for adults, with a purpose

Forget awkward introduction rounds. With us, new colleagues become part of the team through fun collaborative exercises for adults where everyone participates on an equal footing. Through playful challenges and exciting tasks, you'll boost dialogue, collaboration and social interaction. We offer both small teamwork exercises as a warm-up and more complex teamwork exercises where team dynamics really come into play.

Collaborative exercises with a focus on communication

Good communication is the cornerstone of any strong team. That's why our teamwork exercises with a focus on communication are a natural part of the onboarding process. In our Mystery Hunt and Mystery Room It’s not enough just to think quickly; to succeed, you also need to be able to share knowledge and listen actively.

This makes our experiences ideal as collaborative exercises for adults, where working together is the key to success.

Ideas for collaborative exercises for adults

Looking for inspiration for the best collaborative exercises? We have plenty of ideas for collaborative exercises for adults that can be customised to suit team size, time and ambition level. Whether you want a one-hour icebreaker or a full day of collaboration and reflection, we'll tailor a programme to suit your needs.

Take an hour in our Mystery Room

In our award-winning Mystery Room, you have one hour to solve the mystery and secure the key to freedom. Here you'll practice teamwork. And every team member has a role to play. Because it's not always about being first. Sometimes you have to stop and think, brainstorm and exchange ideas and set a direction together.

Start the good conversation on our Mystery Hunt

A conversation is best when it takes place in an informal setting. Our Mystery Hunt is perfect for onboarding a new employee as it gives you the opportunity to get to know each other in a setting that encourages play and learning rather than serious and sedentary conversations.

Sharpen your team dynamics with our Team Development

With years of experience in the industry, we've helped everything from start-ups to national organisations improve their collaboration. Our professional team coaches take you through your team dynamics and point out areas where you're doing well and areas where you can improve. It's all done with a professional smile and it's perfect for onboarding because it allows you to rethink your team.

And whatever you choose, it's first and foremost a fun experience. Because we believe that smiles, excitement and little surprises create the best setting for learning.

Frequently asked questions about onboarding and team-building exercises

Why are group activities good for onboarding?

New staff get to know each other and the rest of the team much more quickly when they work together on something fun from day one. A shared experience is far better at breaking the ice than yet another meeting.

Which activity is suitable for onboarding?

A Mystery Hunt, where new and seasoned colleagues solve puzzles side by side, is the perfect choice. Everyone is on an equal footing when it comes to cracking the code, and if you have international colleagues, several experiences are also available in English.

How many people can take part?

Up to 150 players in the same game. If there are more of you, we’ll split you into parallel teams so that groups of up to 200 can also take part.
