Onboarding with Mystery Makers

An onboarding process takes place when a new employee joins a company. It is during onboarding that the new employee is introduced to the company culture, the work tasks and the many new colleagues. The purpose of onboarding is to help the new employee feel welcome, understand their role and quickly become a productive part of the team. But how do you do that successfully? At Mystery Makers, we may have the answer.

Experiences start conversations

Cultural experiences, or any other experience, create a common reference point. This can make it easier to start a conversation at the coffee machine or printer - especially for a new employee. Onboarding is all about making the new colleague feel part of the team from day one. And what better way than an activity that emphasises collaboration, communication and laughter? At Mystery Makers, we create unique experiences that make welcoming a new colleague easy and fun.

Onboarding that builds community

For many people, the first encounter with a new workplace is filled with excitement, curiosity - and maybe a little nervousness. That's why it's important to create a safe and inclusive start where the new employee can get to know their colleagues in an informal and positive environment. Our Mystery Hunt and Mystery Room are designed to do just that. Here, teamwork and collaboration are at the centre, so everyone contributes and discovers each other's strengths.

Our Mystery Hunt blends culture, creativity and team spirit

If you want to combine onboarding with some fresh air and history, our Mystery Hunt an obvious choice. You'll have the opportunity to explore some of Denmark's most iconic locations as you work together to solve puzzles inspired by their unique history. It's an engaging and interactive experience that not only brings the team together, but also creates strong memories and common reference points for the next chat over the coffee machine or in the queue for the printer. We believe that the most obvious locations for a successful onboarding are at Kronborg Castle and Christiansborg Palace

Dive into Hamlet's universe and strengthen collaboration at Kronborg Castle

Come to Kronborg and explore the castle's mystery as a team. Get to know each other better while discovering the secrets of Hamlet's world. The activity strengthens your common understanding and creates bonds that make it easier to work together - both at the castle and later in the workplace.

Experience the centre of power and solve mysteries together at Christiansborg Palace

At Christiansborg Castle, you'll be part of a joint mission to crack the code of a historical mystery. Together you'll explore the rich history of the castle while practising teamwork and problem solving. It's a unique way to kick-start your collaboration and build a strong foundation for success in joint projects.

Our Mystery Room offers action and collaboration

Our Mystery Room offers you a different onboarding experience where the whole team will put their creative and logical skills to the test. You'll be locked in a room and have to solve a series of challenging puzzles to escape - and you only have 60 minutes to do it!

You can choose from several exciting themes to suit your team:

  • The Ritual: Can you break the code to a mysterious lodge and escape in time?
  • The Killing Room: High heart rates and sharp minds are needed to complete this nerve-wracking challenge.
  • The Lab: Navigate a mad scientist's chaotic lab and solve the mystery before time runs out.

Whatever theme you choose, the intense experience will strengthen collaboration and create a solid foundation for the new employee's integration into the team.

Five tips for the best onboarding

1. Prepare everything in advance

Make sure everything practical is in place before the employee's first day. This includes work tools such as a computer, passwords and workspace, as well as a plan for their induction. A well-organised start shows that you're ready to receive them and makes it easier for them to feel welcome.

2. Create a structured onboarding plan

Create a clear schedule for the onboarding period that includes introductions to colleagues, training modules, and milestones for the first days, weeks and months. A structured approach helps the employee understand their role and company expectations from the start.

3. Introduce the company culture

Onboarding isn't just about tasks and systems, it's also about giving the employee a sense of belonging. Share the company's values, mission and Visionand spend time explaining how the employee can contribute to the culture and the success of the team.

4. Assign a contact person

A contact person can be an experienced colleague who acts as a sounding board during the onboarding process. This creates a safe relationship where the new employee can ask questions and get help navigating both work tasks and social aspects.

5. Gather ongoing feedback

Onboarding is a dynamic process and employee feedback is crucial to improve it. Regularly ask them how they feel about the onboarding process and adjust the process if needed. This shows that you value their input and are committed to their success.
With these tips, you can create an onboarding process that gets new employees motivated, engaged and ready to contribute to the organisation's goals. And if you start with a trip to our Mystery Hunt or Mystery Room, you've laid a good foundation for successful onboarding.
